|New product for the
precipitation of amplified PCR* productst
For manipulation of PCR* products once formed, the standard method for precipitation of amplified PCR* products is a conventional phenol/chloroform extraction followed by ethanol precipitation. Restriction enzyme digestion and ligation of the PCR* product can be problematic due to the survival of Taq DNA polymerase and nucleotides. This may lead to blocking of the restriction enzyme overhang sites with a severe reduction of cloning efficiency. The use of SELECTANOL then overcomes these problems as it specifically precipitates amplified PCR* products (larger than 150 bp) whilst leaving nucleotides, primers, primer dimers and Taq DNA polymerase in solution.
*PCR is a technology covered by patents owned by Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. and F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd.
